Painting and decorating a two-bedroom flat in Westminster, London
Client’s story
When Ana first came to us, she had just become the owner of a two-bedroom property in Westminster. She had been renting the flat in London with furniture for a while before she decided to go ahead with the purchase, allowing her to properly move into the space and finally proceed with painting and decorating the way she had always wanted.

"I loved living in Central London, but the flat never felt like home with the bare white walls and the bits and pieces of furniture that came with it. It needed fresh repainting and wallpapering, and I wanted it to be a place I'm happy to come home to and have friends and family around without having to apologise for how the place looks. Now that the painting and decorating is done, you wouldn't recognise the place!”
Complete painting and decorating service
As a young businesswoman, Ana has a busy schedule. She is away from London often, and she needed a quick and all-encompassing painting and decorating service with an interior twist – someone to understand and address her personal style and carry out her London project without her needing to be an active part of the process.
Our painters and decorators were working closely with the client and her appointed interior design consultant to ensure the suitability and quality of all the selected painting and decorating materials and advise on how best to apply them. We chose a variety of wall coverings for this London project. The living room was wallpapered in a beautiful fabric wallpaper from Rubelli, the Venier Argento, which bounces the light around and opens up the space with its slightly shiny surface. Behind the headboard in the master bedroom is a lovely 3D-effect feature wallpaper, the Mahlia from Arte Wallcoverings. The walls in the second bedroom and hallway were painted and decorated to complement the soft, warm and youthful scheme (Dulux Trade 30YY72/018), while a soft grey was selected in the remaining three walls of the master bedroom to support the feature wallpaper (Dulux Trade 50GY72/012)

"I needed a London painting and decorating service flexible enough to work with the timelines I had in mind and trustworthy enough that I didn't need to check on them daily, as my plan was to take a business trip. I often work from home, so I planned the painting and decorating for when I was away and the Good Painter team were more than happy to accommodate for this. They kept me in the loop throughout the process, with regular updates of how the work was progressing.
When I came back, it felt like a completely different flat altogether."
A few questions for the client
What was the biggest challenge during the painting and decorating project?
It was my first time painting and decorating and believe me, it can be overwhelming to make all of the decisions on your own! It was so helpful to have the Good Painter team on board to advise me. I didn’t have to worry about how many drops of wallpaper I needed or what the pattern repeat was because they calculated and ordered everything, ready to use for painting and decorating. It worked like a dream.
What’s your favourite space in the flat now?
That’s a good question! I love the whole flat and I never imagined it could look so polished and sophisticated, but I spend the most time in the living room. I got a little home office made in a corner that was previously not used for much, and now I get a lot done there. Thanks to the wallpaper the painters and decorators have chosen, the whole living room space feels calm and homey; it’s an entirely different feeling to spend time there than what it used to be.
What would be your advice to anyone planning a painting and decorating project?
Don’t put it off! I got so used to living within these bare white walls with the most generic artwork on it that you can imagine (badly hung), and it all felt very temporary. I didn’t see the potential the space had before painting and decorating but now each room looks larger and brighter than before. The whole flat now has a sense of purpose, with a perfect balance of luxury and personality.
