A Chelsea Harbour family house revamped
Client’s story
Yasmina and Labib moved into a five-bedroom house in Chelsea, London a number of years ago. Their dream was to create the perfect family home for their two little children and their relatives and friends to enjoy, so they undertook a major remodelling complete with basement excavation and a rear extension at the time.
However, as the years went by the once immaculate home stopped looking as lovely and fresh as when they first moved in. The family decided it was time to freshening up the place by repainting and decorating.

The Brief:
As Yasmina and Labib were happy with their previous paint colour choices and they wanted to keep the scheme the same as before, they didn’t need to use our colour consultancy service. However, our painters and decorators completed a colour survey and matched all the wall, ceiling and woodwork colours in every room and put together a list of specifications for them. Working floor by floor and protecting all the surfaces and furniture, we completed the job in just two weeks!
The family initially settled in the London house after the new basement was completed so a few fine cracks were showing on the walls, especially on the upper levels where the movement of the house can take its toll. Hairline cracks develop naturally in any property over the years. They are more of an aesthetic and not a structural concern, and a professional painter and decorator can deal with them easily.

What was the primary challenge during the painting and decorating process of your London home?
I imagined it would be difficult to find the right paint colours because we didn’t have the paperwork any more from when we initially did the house. It turned out it was much easier than we imagined; the team of painters and decorators sampled many colours to find the right one before beginning the painting and decorating.
What did you enjoy most during the process?
The painting and decorating company was very accommodating, and I appreciated that a lot! When we had the house renovated it was absolute chaos and we were afraid of a repeat, but it turned out to be just the opposite. The team thoroughly cleaned after each day of painting and decorating and wouldn’t leave the house unless it was spotless, so we didn’t have any problems whatsoever with dust or rubbish.
